Lifeguarding Certification Course - BL:
The primary purpose of this course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.
This program offers Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience.
Participants who successfully complete this course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years.
Participants must attend every class.
Class Schedule (Friday's):
May 3, 2024: 3:30-5:00pm Prerequisite Test
May 10, 2024: 3:30-8:30pm
May 17, 2024: 3:30-8:30pm
May 24, 2024: 3:30-8:30pm
May 31, 2024: 3:30-8:30pm
Program Requirements and Prerequisites
1. Minimum age: 15 years.
2. Swim 300 yards continuously using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
3. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
4. Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds: Starting in the water swim 20 yards; Surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object; Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point; Exit the water without using steps or a ladder.
Blended Learning (BL): Online and Classroom
- eLearning: Link will be emailed once registration closes and course prerequisites tests are completed. Online session must be completed prior to in person training.
